Microlight flight

From time to time, microlight aircraft fly overhead here; there's a flying club not far away, and I have had it in mind for some time to take a flight with a view to taking some pictures of Les Hallais, but also with a view to having a bit of fun.

There was a bit of haze today so it wasn't ideal conditions for taking photographs, but the day was otherwise bright and sunny, and there is no time like the present. I can always come back on a clear day in Summer if I want brighter pictures.

Here's a few: The aircraft - a microlight, or ULM in French. The village of St Pierre sur Erve, you can see the H-shaped chateau in the middle of the village with its formal garden. Les Hallais, a fine place for groups of people to come and stay :) and the nearby village of Saulges. Also, two views of the canyon formed by the river Erve a hundred yards or so from chez moi.

What a shame there was haze. You'll go up again I imagine, when it's clearer and a tad warmer?

Yes, having done it once, I think I can take some better pictures in better light. Most of them had motion blurring, but a few were OK, and in decent light I think they'd be fine. Not pro quality but good for my purposes

I have never flown in a microlight - when I lived in Northumberland they used to land on the beaches at low tide.

I did learn to hang glide years ago, though my licence is defunct now. I have done some parachute jumps too.

I had a solo (fixed wing) gliding licence once, and also did some paragliding and hang gliding. I wimped out of a parachute jump though because I'm afraid of heights.

I fly a microlight in the Dordogne. Mine is the same as the one in your picture, but with the 100hp engine.
If you take any photos from the air they look hazy, you need to do a "white balance" in your PC software (GIMP is very good at that) to make them much better.
