Versailles 2

There was an exhibition of sculptures by Murakami in the chateau at Versailles when we were there. This artist is well-know for his quirky and imaginative works. They were interesting, but not what I would describe as in keeping with their surroundings.

It is an odd choice of gallery for Murakami; the exhibits need to work hard to overcome the weight of all that sumptuous interior decor. And yet, in your pictures at least, it works and and the extreme contrast enhances the impact of each piece.

Hi J, yes, I find myself in a bit of a paradox. While I was there I was struck by their inappropriateness. So I just snapped a few pictures with the intention of showing how awful it was. Yet as I look at the photos, they do seem somehow to not have that "sticking out like a sore thumb" aspect that I remember from the exhibition. Curious.
