The law has recently been changed in France so that you don't need anyone's permission to put solar panels on your roof, and so, now that you don't need your plans to be approved, you can put them up exactly how you like. This tasteful installation at Thoringé-en-Charnie, not far from us, graces the village centre, just opposite the church.
The little plaque by the door of the house announces that the occupier is an ébéniste; a worker in wood, that probably best translates as "cabinet-maker". I wonder what his designs are like.

Gosh are they hideous. What a pity.
Pembrokeshire is finally waking up to some of the abominations allowed by planning law loopholes - the proliferation of small wind turbines on farmland has finally been regulated (a little) but they pepper the landscape and spoil so much of it. The problem is that 'small' is not what you or I would consider to come under that term - in many cases the host farmers are effectively renting the land for companies to put these up, so nothing to do with self sufficiency or anything - just dispersed windfarms by stealth!
I feel I may have sat on some of his chairs in my time...how absolutely hideous.
Yes, they're an eyesore all right.
