I think they started out as a set of cultivated bulbs with the usual enormous flowers. If you just put them out in the garden, they tend to make smaller flowers each year until they revert to these delicate little spikes. I'm probably being a bit loose with the word "naturalised".

By naturalised do you mean wild or native to France. Either way they are very pretty and delicate.

They are better - less gaudy - like this.
Maybe I will become naturalised one day?
